Several of our missionaries just returned from attending the 14th CPI (Church Planting Institute) conference held in the Fuji-Hakone area. The conference was sponsored by the Japan Evangelical Mission Association and featured bilingual worship services as well as specialized courses for people in church-planting ministries. Monday October 8 was a national holiday here in Japan. The people of Kami-fukuoka, Fukuin Chapel and Iriso Church in Tokyo took the opportunity to have their yearly joint picnic. The event was held at a nearby park and proved to be a time of blessing and fellowship, despite an occasional light rain. Read More...

Mirial Gainer recently returned from spending several months on home assignment. Her trip was long and had its share of troubles, but by God's grace and providence she is safely settled in Hokkaido. She stayed a couple of weeks in Tokyo for medical reasons and then relocated to Hokkaido, where she will work with the team in Ebetsu city. We thank the Lord for her safe return, and pray for his blessings on her as she continues to work in Hokkaido!

Trey Hillman, manager for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters pro baseball team, gave a powerful talk on July 9th at an event sponsored by the Ebetsu Alive program. The 2007 Tokyo E-team comprised nine high school students and two adult sponsors. They experienced riding trains (some quite crowded!) subways, and buses; visiting many of Tokyo’s famous sites; and tasting new and different foods. More importantly, though, the group ministered in all three Tokyo area F.W.B. churches and experienced many ways of doing ministry in the sprawling urban mass of humanity called Tokyo. Read More...

E-team Hokkaido 2007 arrived June 13 tired but looking forward to working along side their fellow missionaries who were already on site.  They came with a spirit of co-operation that continued unfailing throughout  their stay with us.  As to their willingness to adapt and try new things, no one could find a better group.  They did not always find things pleasing to their taste buds but they were sensitive to their hosts and surroundings and behaved admirably.  Read More...
