Missionaries attend CPI 2007 (Nov. 6-9)

Several of our missionaries just
returned from attending the 14th CPI (Church Planting Institute) conference held
in the Fuji-Hakone area (with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji if the
clouds let us). The conference was sponsored by the Japan Evangelical Mission
Association and featured bilingual worship services as well as
specialized courses for people in church-planting ministries.
Around 400 people attended this year's conference, gathering from all over Japan and even abroad to meet and renew their outlook on church-planting ministries in Japan. Joint services were held several times a day, with the rest of the time given to core training sessions and specialized electives. Since Japanese and English-speaking workers were in attendance, many of these sessions were bilingual. The worship services were also conducted in both English and Japanese. It was exciting to see so many Evangelical groups gather together, worship together, and compare notes and ministry-related issues. God is truly doing something marvelous in Japan! It was refreshing, and perhaps even life-changing for some, to focus on spiritual renewal offered by the core training. It was encouraging and insightful for others to examine the details of ministry in the specialized electives courses. And it was a blessing to all to simply fellowship with so many missionaries from all across Japan and the world!
